This fast-paced session explores the mediator's ethical obligations under ORS Chapter 36, the Uniform Trial Court Rules, and The OMA Standards of Practice... all just in time for your New Year's Resolution! The training objectives are:
- Understand the various ethical frameworks,
- Define the mediator's role (what it is and what it is not,
- Appreciate the ethical ramifications of mediator approaches,
- Explore the ethical challenges with several mediator techniques, and
- Learn from war stories.

Presented by:
Sam Imperati, JD, Executive Director of ICMRESOLUTIONS, a Seattle-based national dispute resolution provider of mediation, facilitation, decision-making, team building, and training services. Sam has been a full-time ADR professional since 1992 and has managed everything from "Admiralty to Zoning." He was Nike's Assistant Corporate Counsel (litigation) and represented individuals and labor unions in private practice. He served as a judge pro temporal and taught public policy facilitation at UO Law CRES program, leadership, negotiation, ethics, & decision-making at Willamette MBA, and environmental dispute resolution at Lewis & Clark Law. 2006 – 2025 Best Lawyers in America (ADR). WMA Board Member. Standup comedy winner! During his free time, Sam plays "zone defense" against his three granddaughters and midfield on an Over-68 men's soccer team, where occasionally you can perceive movement on the field!
