Appellate practice in Oregon is heavily populated by specialists. Many litigators, though, will have occasion to handle an appeal or two in the course of their careers. Some may even develop a taste for it. Yet no one really teaches appeals. They are learned, as so many legal techniques are, by doing.
Where do you learn what no one teaches? What do you do if the appellate guru in your firm leaves? How do you land the plane? You've read the ORAPs. But how do appeals really work?
On January 26, three senior appellate practitioners will help us answer those questions. Please join us as we learn from Justice Jack Landau of the Oregon Supreme Court, Laura Graser, a solo practitioner, and Jim Westwood of Stoel Rives LLP.
