A Collaboration of the MBA, Multnomah Circuit Court Legal Resource Center and Legal Aid Services of Oregon
NOTE: We have met our capacity for volunteers for this event, but please contact probono@lasoregon.org or visit www.probonooregon.org to learn about additional pro bono service opportunities.
Please join us on Friday, March 14 and volunteer to assist low-income people in clearing their eligible criminal & eviction records at the Multnomah County Courthouse. Expungement is the legal process where eligible individuals can seek to set aside or seal their record. Volunteers will review printed court records, advise clients and complete necessary court paperwork to clear eligible records. No specific legal experience required. Attorneys must be licensed in Oregon to participate and view recorded expungement trainings available on www.probonooregon.org.
It was estimated as many as 1.4 Oregonians or one third of Oregon’s population have a criminal record. Last year, more than 28k evictions were filed in Oregon and 11,761 were filed in Multnomah County alone. Through LASO’s Expungement Clinic, volunteer attorneys are helping low-income Oregonians reduce barriers to safe housing, employment, and education by sealing eligible eviction and criminal records.
Date & Time: Friday, March 14. Clinic hours 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Volunteers should plan to arrive at 9 a.m. for a brief clinic overview.
Location: Legal Resource Center, Second Floor Multnomah County Courthouse; 1200 SW 1st Avenue, Portland.
